Prancing Horse #184 reviews Carrera Panamericana (1950-54)

The Prancing Horse (#184) features a review of our documentary Carrera Panamericana (1950-54). Written by Jeff Allison, the review is an appreciative look at the film and the cars and drivers of those extraordinary races. Viewed from the perspective of today's safety standards, it is difficult to believe these races were allowed to take place and that so many stepped up to the challenge they presented.

Sadly John Fitch passed away today.

Thank you very much for that fantastic Carrera DVD.

Just one small critic : it lacks the Race results 1950-54. It would have been nice to integrate them after the nice muletta introduction.

May be later for a special edition ?

John was an extraordinary man and I was privileged to have known him.

With our documentary, it was my intention to give an overall appreciation for what was an extraordinary event that expressed the values of the time.

The races have been beautifully and comprehensively documented on sites like these:

We originally thought to do a series on the Carrera. What is certain is that I shall, at an appropriate moment, release the full two hours of interview that John and I did together covering a wide range of topics.
