Addiction Incorporated

Today, I attended the Los Angeles screening of Addiction Incorporated--a documentary about the tobacco industry directed by Charlie Evans Jr. who is also the originating producer of the film. Charlie’s interest in telling the story of Victor DeNoble, whose research at Phillip Morris and subsequent public testimony had a drastic impact on the entire tobacco industry, goes back to 1994. I came late on the scene in 2005 and was privileged to make a modest contribution as a co-producer to this project that is now complete and ready for exhibition to the public. The photo above shows Charlie, me, Charmaine Parcero who is the film's executive producer and Victor DeNoble.

After the screening, Charlie and Victor answered questions from the audience which included Stefan Wente (seen with me above), who I met at one of Charlie’s music dinners and Elysée Wednesday regulars Jeanetta Dumouchel, Tom Gurnee and Eric Moreno.
Charlie’s perseverance and single-minded determination brought this project to fruition. His skillful direction and orchestration of this story make it a compelling film worth a second and third viewing. I am very proud of the final result and pleased to have been included in the effort to bring Addiction Incorporated to the screen.
